    Constructed as an AH-1G-BF by Bell at Fort Worth, Texas, USA.

    August 1968

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army with s/n 67-15717.

    August 1968

    To DIR SUP/TRAN, Sharpe Army Depot, CA.

    October 1968

    To 388th Transportation Company, South Vietnam.

    November 1968

    Transferred to B Troop, 1st Squadron, 9th CAV. Regiment, 1st CAV. Division, South Vietnam.

    6 June 1969

    Damaged.
    Damaged while parked during an enemy mortar attack.

    March 1970

    Transferred to 605th Transportation Company, South Vietnam.

    5 March 1970

    Shot down.
    During a recon mission over Cambodia, Cobra 67-15717 was attacking at 1500 feet and 120 knots when it took five 12.7MM hits from an enemy weapon, likely a DShK. The rounds impacted in the engine compartment causing spalling. These rounds damaged the transmission and the airframe. Cobra 717 continued flight but later made a forced landing. The aircraft was diverted prior to accomplishing any mission objectives. The airframe was later recovered.

    Transferred to B Troop, 3-17 CAV., South Vietnam.

    March 1972

    In-transit to the United States.

    July 1972

    To Army Aeronautical Depot Maintenance Center (ARADMAC), NAS Corpus Christi, TX.

    January 1973

    Loaned to U. S. Army Aviation Systems Command (AVSCOM), Saint. Louis, MO.

    February 1973

    To Supply-Maintenance Center, HI.

    May 1973

    Transferred to HHT, 3-4 CAV., 25th Infantry Division, HI.

    July 1973

    To Supply-Maintenance Center, HI.

    September 1973

    Transferred to HHT, 3-4 CAV., 25th Infantry Division, HI.

    January 1975

    Transferred to 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, HI.

    October 1975

    Transferred to C Troop, 3-14 CAV., 25th Infantry Division, Schofield Barracks, HI.

    Circa 1981

    Converted to an AH-1S (Modernized).

    By July 1988

    Transferred to 4th Armored Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division (Mechanized), Germany.

    Circa September 1988

    Redesignated as AH-1F.

    By June 1998

    Transferred to 1st Battalion, 238th Aviation Regiment, Michigan ARNG.

    By September 2001

    Assigned to Fort Drum, NY for storage.

    2004

    To Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 6637, Manchester, IA.
    The aircraft was never displayed in Manchester, due to lack of space. Instead, it was placed in a small veterans memorial park ten miles south in Ryan.
