    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Navy with BuNo 159743.

    Transferred to VS-41.

    Transferred to VS-28.

    Converted to a S-3B.

    Transferred to VS-22.

    2 March 1989

    Made a barricade arrested landing on March 02, 1989 due to a failed nose gear. During that landing, the COTAC (co-pilot/tactical coordinator) ejected.

    By February 1991

    Transferred to VS-24.
    Operated with markings: AJ-701, Eyes of the Storm

    2 February 1991

    BuNo 159743 was 1st S-3 to drop bombs in combat on Iraqi coastal AAA battery on 02/02/1991. One of five bombing missions assigned to VS-24.

    By 2001

    Transferred to VX-20.

    2001

    Permanently withdrawn from use.
    Retained by Lockheed as a static test airframe.
