    Constructed as a B-17G-95-VE by Lockheed-Vega at Burbank, California, USA.

    1945

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 44-85505.

    18 September 1947

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 44-85505.

    Transferred to 6th Radar Calibration Flight, Elmendorf AFB, AK.

    10 September 1951

    Crashed.
    Went down 10 miles NW of Talkeetna, Alaska, on a flight fromElmendorf AFB to Ladd AFB. 1 killed, 6 survived.

    July 2011

    Recovered.
    The tail turret, tail wheel retraction mechanism, navigator and bombardier seats, vertical fin, and many other smaller parts were removed by personnel of the Champaign Aviation Museum for use in their restoration of 44-83722.
