    Transferred to 621st AAF Base Unit (AAF Tactical Center), Pinecastle AAF, FL.
    Used as training and familiarization aircraft.

    June 1946

    Transferred to 3502nd AAF Base Unit (Air Training Command), Chanute AFB, IL.
    Used as airframe maintenance trainer.

    18 September 1947

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 44-64265.

    1948

    Redesignated as F-51H.

    August 1948

    Transferred to 3345th Technical Training Group (ATC), Chanute AFB, IL.

    May 1949

    Struck off Strength/Charge from the United States Air Force.

    1949

    Placed on display.
    Placed at various locations around Chanute AFB as static display.

    November 1951

    Loaned to 101st Fighter Squadron, 102nd Fighter Wing (ANG), Logan Airport, Boston, MA.
    Markings changed to: MASS ANG, 444265
    Aircraft on static display.

    July 1954

    Returned from loan to Air Park, Chanute AFB, IL.
    Returned to Chanute for display.

    1965

    To National Museum of the United States Air Force Loan Program, Wright Field, Dayton, OH.

    Markings Applied: Louisiana Heatwave, PF-195, 464195
    Marked as 44-64195 flown by Claude J. Crenshaw with the 82nd Fighter Group at Grenier Field, NH, following WWII. Crenshaw flew with 369th FS, 359 FG during WWII and downed 7 enemy aircraft with a P-51D also named Louisiana Heatwave.
