    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army with s/n 58-1720.

    Certificate of airworthiness for N41755 (OTTER DHC-3, 339) issued.

    By 31 August 1982

    To unknown owner with c/r N41755.

    31 August 1982

    Crashed.
    The accident occurred at Near Skwentna, AK, United States while cruising. The damage was substantial. The aircraft experienced a power loss a forced landing was made on a sandbar. During the landing roll the aircraft struck a log, folding the main gear. Engine teardown revealed a failed #4 articulating rod. The rod separated just above the knuckle pin area.

    Involved in an incident.
    The incident occurred at the Palmer Airport (PAQ) Palmer, AK, United States while on appoach. The airplane pitched abruptly nose down following an inflight failure of the horizontal stabilizers trim actuator jack screw. The crew was able to maintain control of the airplane and make a successful landing by exerting a large amount of back pressure on the control wheel and adding nearly full engine power...

    Summary: The damage to the airframe was substantial. There were 10,587 hours on the airframe at the time. The domestic non scheduled passenger flight departed Nikolai Airport, AK (NIB/PAFS), United States of America and was destined for Silvertip Lodge, AK, United States of America. The accident occurred at near McGrath, AK (United States of America) while en route. The airframe was repaired. Narrative: Inflight fire; damaged beyond repair in forced landing. PROBABLE CAUSE: The fire in the engine accessory drive assembly...
