Performed IRAN (Inspect and Repair as Necessary) then heavily modified the plane with a very long focal-length camera with state-of-the-art vibration isolation. Aircraft was then flown to Lear, Inc. at Grand Rapids, MI, for installation of flight programmer. |

Returned from loan to 7407th Support Squadron, 7499th Support Group, Rhein-Main AB, Germany. |

While flying with the 7407th Support Squadron this aircraft flew special high-altitude peripheral reconnaissance missions in support of Project SHARP CUT. The aircraft used its very long focal-length camera to look into Warsaw Pact territory without actually overflying it. For the SHARP CUT missions the aircraft had a crew of two, pilot and navigator. Both wore pressurized flight suits and helmets. The navigator also doubled as the camera operator. |
