    Permanently withdrawn from use.
    Aircraft was grounded due to the discovery of wing cracks.

    5 August 1981

    Engine and vertical fin removed from aircraft by 113th TFW personnel.

    24 September 1981

    Aft section of aircraft removed, placed on aft section dolly and transported to the Paul E. Garber facility in Suitland, MD.

    30 September 1981

    Aircraft placed on a lowboy trailer.

    1 October 1981

    Wings removed from the aircraft and transferred to the NASMs Garber Facility by flatbed trailer.

    1 October 1981

    Fuselage transported to the NASMs Garber facility for indoor storage.

    To Smithsonian, National Air and Space Museum, Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, Chantilly, Reston, VA.
    Reassembled and placed on display.
