    Notes: 1969 would see the debut of the Owl Racer as designed by George Owl. It was built by John Alford but would be flown in 1969 by Bud Pedigo. John Alfords wife Joan had been the secretary of PRPA President Art Chester prior to his death in a race in 1949 in San Diego.

    Kathy Gray is the new owner of Pogo, and San Diego was to be her first race. Kathy is a DC-3 p ilo t for SALAIR, a cargo hauler. She also has lots of experience in a variety of aircraft, and is a natural for air racing. She already has logged several hours in Race 87, including a ferry flight from Florida to California when she bought the aircraft from Cave Garber. Pogo is the original Owl racer designed by the late George CW1. Competed in the International Formula 1 San Diego event. The primary pilot was Katherine Gray from Simi Valley, CA. Raced in Heat 1A. Finished in 5th place with an average speed of 191.256 mph. Raced in Heat 2B. Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 200.970 mph. Raced in the Consolation race. Finished in 3rd place with an average speed of 195.259 mph.

    Kathy Ctay, enthusiastic as usual, has put in more race plane time this year than everyone else put together, and her crew was complaining that she was wearing it out. She had obtained the ex-Sawyer/ Johns tad flat-bed trailer to solve this problem. Competed in the International Formula 1 Pueblo event. The primary pilot was Katherine Gray. Qualified in 3rd place with an average speed of 192.740 mph. Raced in the Consolation race. Finished in 6th place with an average speed of 193.876 mph. Raced in the Championship race. Finished in 5th place with an average speed of 185.843 mph.
