    Constructed as a F-4J-41-MC by McDonnell at Saint Louis, Missouri, USA.

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Navy with BuNo 157267.

    By October 1971

    Transferred to VF-96 Fighting Falcons aboard USS Constellation.

    19 January 1972

    While piloting this fighter, Lt Randall H. Cunningham and his RIO Lt William P. Driscoll shot down North Vietnamese MiG-21.

    8 May 1972

    While piloting this fighter, Lt Randall H. Cunningham and his RIO Lt William P. Driscoll shot down North Vietnamese MiG-17.

    After 1975

    Converted to a F-4S.

    By March 1984

    Transferred to VMFA-122, MCAS Beaufort, SC.
    Operated with markings: DC-1

    1990

    To San Diego Air and Space Museum, Balboa Park, San Diego, CA.

    Notes: Lowering the F-4 by crane onto its display pole in the courtyard of the (then) San Diego Aerospace Museum. Lift was done late at night, after the San Diego International Airport was closed, as the top of the crane encroached into the landing path of airliners.
