    Designed and built by Steve Wittman

    To unknown owner with c/r N12047.

    To Steve Wittman with new c/r N14855.

    Raced as #101, named Chief of Oshkosh.

    Circa 1946

    Restored.
    Used parts, including the fuselage, from his 1930s racer Chief of Oshkosh. Was fabric covered and utilized a spring-steel landing gear. A C-65 engine was installed with a new cowl. The complete aircraft weighed just over 500 lbs empty.

    Competed at the National Air Races Cleveland in the Goodyear Trophy race. The primary pilot was Bill Brennand. Qualified in 3rd place with an average speed of 155.088 mph. Raced in the B Feature race. Finished in 1st place with an average speed of 165.857 mph.

    1948

    Was modified for the 1948 races. A McCauley prop was installed. The cowling was redesigned to reduce the frontal area. Wheel pants were also installed.
