    Constructed as a L-5C.

Editor Note: The USAAF serial was originally assumed to be 44-17260, and that is based on the FAA provided construction number and extrapolated from other L-5 serial number and construction number tie-up data. Johnny Comstedt comments (18 June 2018): S/n 44-17260 is right if c/n 76-3547 (according to FAA Reg.) is right. This because c/n 76-3000 was s/n 44-16713 and c/n 76-3726 was s/n 44-17439 and there is a straight correlation between the c/n and the s/n numbers.

James Gray comments (14 August 2022): The military identity of this airplane is currently unknown because the data plate is missing. A false extrapolation has been made tying 76-3547 to USAAF 44-17260 which was delivered to the USMC as BuNo 03870 and wrecked in a typhoon on Okinawa in October 1945. Although a good effort, Mr. Comstedt is incorrect in his assertion that 76-3000 = 44-16713. and 76-3726 was s/n 44-17439. A straight-line numerical correlation cannot be made as demonstrated by many L-5s with verified serial number match-ups.
