    Crashed.
    The accident occurred at the Eliza Island Airstrip Airport Eliza Island, WA, United States while on appoach. The damage was substantial. The pilot had never landed on the 1600 foot grass airstrip before. Several days prior to the accident the pilot made 5 or 6 practice short field approaches and landings, safely stopping in less than 1600 feet...

    Notes: At Friday Harbor, WA - A Wardlow Bushman, formerly owned by Roy Franklin, founder of San Juan Airlines and builder of the Friday Harbor Airport. The Wardlow conversion involved replacing the Stinsons tube and fabric fuselage with a new all-metal fuselage. Only five were built.
