Summarized NTSB narrative from report number SEA81FYP31: There were no fatalities. Incident occurred at 14: 15 hours. The damage was substantial. This was a local flight from Wenatchee, WA. The engine failed or malfunctioned while pulling up from a crop dusting run. Collided with trees on touch down. The factors included; high vegetation on terrain. There was a partial power loss with the failure of one engine. The emergency circumstances included; forced landing on a seaplane base or heliport...

Notes: My second flight in the Stearman after a quick rebuild to two place configuration. Just put on some wings, landing gear and engine that I had that were sitting around. I only had to recover one wing. It was a great flying Stearman. |
