    Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Unlimited class. The primary pilot was Gerald Martin from Hereford, CA. Qualified in 20th place with an average speed of 286.36 mph. Raced in the First Trophy race. Finished in 5th place with an average speed of 249.72 mph. Raced in the Heat 2A race. Finished in 7th place with an average speed of 251.21 mph. Raced in the Make-Up race. Finished in 5th place with an average speed of 249.72 mph. Raced in the Reserve race. Finished in 7th place with an average speed of 251.21 mph.

    Crashed.
    There was one fatality. The accident occurred at the Ellington Field Airport (EFD) Houston, TX, United States while maneuvering. The airframe was destroyed. While maneuvering to land, the pilot inadvertently stalled and impacted the terrain. The pilot had been instructed by air traffic control to increase the separation between it and the airplane it was following. Several witnesses stated the airplane did a series of 360-DEGREE steep turns...
