    Constructed as an Ar-234B-2.

    1944

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Luftwaffe with s/n 140312.

    1944

    Transferred to 8. Staffel III./Kampfgeschwader 76 (8th Air Corps/3rd Group/Battle Wing 76).
    Operated with markings: F1+GS

    One of nine Ar 234s surrendered to British forces at Sola Airfield near Stavanger, Norway. Teams of the USAAFs Operation Lusty were collecting examples of Luftwaffe technology for study. This aircraft and three others were traded to Operation Lusty by Eric Brown (test pilot and commanding officer of the Enemy Aircraft Flight at the Royal Aircraft Establishment) in exchange for an interview with Hermann Goering who was then being held by the Americans.

    24 June 1945

    Ferry flight.
    Flown from Sola to Cherbourg where it joined 34 other German aircraft to be shipped to the U.S. aboard the British aircraft carrier HMS Reaper.

    From 20 July 1945 to 28 July 1945

    Transported by ship.
    Sailedfrom Cherbourg, France, to Newark, New Jersey.

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n FE-1010 and operated with these markings: FE-1010.
    Operated by the USAAF for testing.

    Circa 1945

    New serial number assigned: T2-1010 USAF
    Operated by the USAAF for testing.

    28 July 1945

    Ferry flight.
    Flown by USAF pilots to Freeman Field, IN.

    1945

    Flown by USAAF pilots for 20 hours as flight testing and evaluation at Freeman Field, Indiana, and at Wright Field, Ohio.

    Circa 1946

    Installed new engines, radio and oxygen equipment.

    July 1946

    Ferry flight.
    Delivered to Accelerated Service Test Maintenance Squadron of the Flight Test Division, Wright Field, OH for flight testing.

    16 October 1946

    Flight testing ended, aircraft remained at Wright Field.

    1947

    Ferry flight. Delivered to Smithsonian, Park Ridge, IL.
    Flown to Orchard Place Airport, Park Ridge, IL for storage.

    1 May 1949

    To Smithsonian Air Museum, Washington, DC.
    Plane remained at Orchard Field.

    1953

    Transported by ground.
    Shipped from Orchard Field to Paul Garber Restoration Facility at Suitland, MD for storage and eventual restoration.

    1966

    To Smithsonian-National Air and Space Museum, Washington, DC.

    From 1984 to February 1989

    Restored.
    Markings Applied: 140312, F1+GS
    Aircraft paint had been stripped prior to National Air Museums acquisition, so the aircraft was painted with the markings of an aircraft of 8./KG 76.
