    Constructed as a D.XII.

    June 1918

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Imperial German Air Service with s/n 2486/18.

    1919

    To USA as part of Allied war reparations.

    Sold as war surplus by Department of Commerce.

    Circa 1925

    Brought to Hollywood and appeared in a number of World War I aviation films.

    1938

    Flew in the movie Dawn Patrol, portraying a D.VII.

    To National Air Museum, Washington, DC.

    By 1988

    Placed on display with Experimental Aircraft Association Museum, Oshkosh, WI.

    Restored.
    Markings Applied: 2486/18
    When finally given back to NASM it had lost much of its instrumentation and acquired an 1/8 inch to 1/4 inch coat of fiberglass over its entire fuselage.
