    According to Tailcode: A Complete History of USAF Tactical Aircraft Tail Code Markings by Patrick Martin, the 366th TFW used a tailcode system that had the 1st letter representing the squadron (in the case of A, it represented the 389th TFS) and the second letter denoted a specific aircraft. This led to confusion because the 361st TEWS based at Tan Son Nhut AB flew C-47s with the AL tailcode during the same time period.
