    Circa 1952

    Constructed as a C-124C by Douglas at Long Beach, CA, USA.

    Circa 1952

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 52-1066.

    Circa July 1960

    During the Congo Airlift, this plane got off course on a flight from Chateauroux to Athens and was forced down by Yugoslavia Air Force fighters. Plane and crew were held until after some diplomatic negotiations when they were released to return to Chateauroux.

    1966

    Transferred to 909th Military Airlift Group, Andrews AFB, MD.

    By August 1967

    Transferred to 436th Military Airlift Wing, Dover AFB, DE.

    By 1970

    Transferred to 165th Tactical Airlift Group, Georgia Air National Guard, Savannah ANG Base, GA.
    Last unit to retire C-124s.

    19 September 1974

    Transferred to the Military Aircraft Storage and Disposal Center (MASDC) with inventory number CQ363.

    27 August 1975

    Ferry flight. Delivered to National Museum of the United States Air Force, Wright Field, Dayton, OH.
