The goal of the XF-84H program was to design an aircraft that would combine the speed of a jet fighter with the long range, low fuel consumption, and low landing speed of a propeller-driven aircraft. Since the Navy was also interested in a fighter with these attributes, especially as a carrier based aircraft, they were co-sponsors of this program. (NMUSAF). |
