    Constructed as a N-156F.

    22 October 1962

    Redesignated as YF-5A-NO.

    Aircraft was originally left unfinished, but after the first two prototypes flew, this plane was re-worked to include all refinements from technology acquired flying the previous two aircraft.

    First flight.

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 59-4989.

    2 September 1963

    Entered flight testing at Edwards AFB, CA.
