    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 61-2059.

    Transferred to 305th Bombardment Wing, Bunker Hill (later Grissom) AFB, IN.
    Operated with markings: GREASED LIGHTNING

    Set numerous speed records during career.

    16 October 1963

    Set last five speed records flying 8,028 miles from Tokyo to London in 8 hrs, 35 min, 20.4 sec, averaging 938 mph. Speed record from Tokyo to Anchorage averaged 1,093 mph.

    Ferry flight. Delivered to Strategic Air Command Museum, Offutt AFB, Omaha, NE.

    Struck off Strength/Charge from the United States Air Force.

    1971

    To National Museum of the United States Air Force Loan Program, Wright Field, Dayton, OH.
