    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 78-0059.

    7 March 1980

    To 56th TTW, MacDill AFB, FL.
    Markings added: MC

    April 1983

    Transferred to 310th TFTS, 58th TTW, Luke AFB, AZ.
    Operated with markings: LF

    December 1983

    Transferred to 311th TFTS, 58th TTW, Luke AFB, AZ.
    Operated with markings: LF

    September 1987

    Transferred to 184th TFG, Kansas ANG, McConnell AFB, KS.
    Operated with markings: Kansas Jayhawks

    Markings Applied: Lightning Rod
    While assigned to the Kansas ANG, this F-16 was struck by lightning on the McConnell AFB ramp. It was repaired and returned to service, but given the name Lightning Rod for its shocking encounter with Mother Nature. This is also believed to be the first F-16 to carry true nose art.
