    To South African Airways-SAA with new c/r ZS-BMH (Douglas DC-4-1009, 43157).

    Crashed.
    Summary: The damage to the airframe was substantial. The domestic scheduled passenger flight departed Johannesburg International Airport (JNB/FAJS), South Africa and was destined for Durban-Louis Botha Airport (DUR/FADN), South Africa. The airframe was repaired. Narrative: A Douglas DC-4 passenger plane operated by South African Airways sustained damage to the tail fin following a collision with a North American Harvard IIA (7464, c/n 88-14163) operated by the South African Air Force. The Harvard trainer, call sign Chaka 2 crashed and both pilots bailed out safely...

    Involved in an incident.
    Survived a mid-air collision with a Harvard, which sliced off 50 percent of Fin and rudder. Landed safely at Durban.

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the South African Air Force with s/n 6904.

    February 1977

    To Safair with new c/r ZS-BMH.

    January 1993

    To South African Airways Historic Flight keeping c/r ZS-BMH.

    July 1994

    Visited EAA Oshkosh.

    August 1998

    Present at Zurich Airport - 50th Birthday celebrations.
