    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 44-61748.

    Transferred to 421st Army Air Force Base Unit, Muroc AAF, CA.

    November 1945

    Assigned to 3040th Aircraft Storage Depot, Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ for storage.

    November 1951

    Transferred to 371st Bomb Squadron, 307th Bomb Wing, Kadena AB, Okinawa.
    Operated with markings: Its Hawg Wild
    Flew 105 missions over Korea.

    17 October 1954

    Damaged.
    Accident due to weather.

    October 1954

    Assigned to 3040th Aircraft Storage Depot, Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ for storage.

    Converted to a TB-29A.

    July 1955

    Transferred to 4750th Air Defense Wing, Yuma County AFB, AZ.
    Used as a target tug, towing targets for gunnery practice.

    November 1956

    Transferred to Naval Air Weapons Station China Lake, CA.
    Used as a ground target for weapons testing.

    By 1959

    Assigned to NAWS China Lake, CA for storage.

    Notes: 44-61748 Its Hawg Wild - B-29A Superfortress - ex-US Air Force - China Lake / Naval Weapons Center - This aircraft flew 105 over missions over Korea while assigned to the 307BW at Kadena between 1952 and 1956 when it was flown to China Lake for use as a range target. In 1979 the US Navy donated the aircraft to the Imperial War Museum and it returned to airworthy condition to enable it to be restored by Aero Services at Tucson. In March 1980, it was flown to Flint, Michigan, where it was prepared for the flight to the UK. This took in stops at Loring, Maine; Gander, Newfoundland; Sondestrom Fjord, Greenland; Keflavik, Iceland; and Mildenhall, UK.

    To Imperial War Museum, London, U. K with new c/r G-BHDK (BOEING B-29A, 44-61748).

    From September 1979 to February 1980

    Restored.
    Restored at Aero Services at Tucson.

    March 1980

    Ferry flight.
    Arrived Duxford, England after restoration.

    Based at Imperial War Museum, Duxford Airport, Duxford, Cambridgeshire/Cambs, England.
