    Notes: CF-ZQX at Winnipeg on 3Jun71 - Ilford-Riverton Airways first foray into the Curtiss Commando was this 1945 built C-46F which was previously with Zantop as N614Z. Acquired in Feb/71 but by Jun/72 it had moved on. Later, in the 1980s, they came back to these machines in a big way.

    Summarized NTSB narrative from report number ANC75AA086: There were no fatalities. Incident occurred at 11:55 hours. The damage was substantial. Incident occurred at the Ice Lake Strip Airport, Barrow, AK. The flight departed was to returned to Fairbanks, AK. Ground looped or water swerved during the landing rollout. Collided with a snowbank during the landing rollout. The factors included; unfavorable wind conditions. The sky conditions were clear. The visibility was 5 or over (unlimited)...

    Notes: This beautiful Commando is now the gate guardian of the Glenn H. Curtiss Museum. A slow, painstaking restoration is underway. The C-46 was originally delivered to the US Army Air Forces as 44-78772. The previous registration, N67996, is still visible. Other registrations were N614Z and CF-ZQX.
