    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Ministry of Defence with s/n VV106.
    With Supermarine Aircraft Company.

    Based with RAE Boscombe Down.

    29 December 1948

    First flight.
    From Boscombe Down with Mike Lithgow at the controls.

    16 March 1949

    Crashed.
    Wheels up landing, pilot Mike Lithgow.

    10 May 1949

    Flight testing resumed.

    1949

    Cockpit hood lost during flight.

    From 6 September 1949 to 11 September 1949

    Demonstrated six times at the SBAC Show.

    From September 1949 to March 1950

    Handling trials at Boscombe Down.

    July 1950

    Inspection by RAE; modified for naval use.

    14 September 1950

    First post-modification flight flown by MJ Lithgow.

    20 September 1950

    Based with RAE Farnborough.
    For dummy deck trials including Rocket Assisted Take Off Gear trials.

    8 November 1950

    First landing of a swept wing aircraft on a carrier deck, HMS Illustrious. Twelve landings and take offs were made, three by Lt J Elliot, with the remainder by Lt Cdr DG Parker of Boscombe Down and MJ Lithgow.

    9 November 1950

    Three further landings and take-offs. Due to low thrust on one RATOG pack the aircraft swung on take off and wingtip hit ships gun turret (pilot Lt Cdr DG Parker).

    14 November 1952

    Crashed.
    With RAE Farnborough flown by T Gordon Innes - undercarriage failure and made wheels up landing.

    June 1954

    New serial number assigned: 7175M RAF

    14 January 1955

    Withdrawn from use.
    Flying career ended and allocated to RAF Melksham.

    January 1955

    Transferred to RAF Melksham.

    17 January 1955

    Transferred to 1 SOTT, RAF Halton.

    20 June 1961

    Transferred to 2 Recruit Centre, RAF Cardington.

    9 June 1964

    To RAF Colerne Museum.

    29 September 1975

    To RAF Saint Athan Historic Aircraft Collection.

    January 1977

    To RAF Cosford Museum.

    3 May 1990

    To FAAM store, RNAS Lee on Solent.

    15 February 1995

    To FAAM store, Wroughton.

    24 November 1999
