    Constructed as a Harrier GR.3.

    5 August 1968

    First flight.

    16 August 1968

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Air Force with s/n XV741.

    May 1969

    Flown between London and New York to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the first transatlantic crossing by John Alcock and Arthur Brown. Time taken was 6 hours 11 minutes. It was actually a race of individuals between the Post Office Tower in London and the Empire State Building in New York.

    Notes: XV741/ AA at Gutersloh 1979. This is a 3 Squadron jet. - This Harrier is the one that won that won the transatlantic air race some years ago. It took off from St.Pancras railway station in London. Now preserved with Jet Art and restored to GR.1 spec, as it was when the race took place.
