Photos of roadside warbirds and museum collections are most welcome. Photos of aircraft as they are currently displayed are great, but photos of airframes in previous markings, with past owners or during a restoration are fantastic as well. You can help document the history of airframes with photos!

Photo Date: Circa 12 September 1972
Credit: Al Chute via Timothy Weinschenker
Date Uploaded: 3 November 2019
Airframe: North American-Red Baron Racing Team RB-51, s/n 44-84961 USAAF, c/n 124-44817, c/r N7715C {1}
Notes: 1972 finally saw a highly modified Mustang victorious over Darryl Greenamyers Bearcat Conquest 1. Gunther Balz really seemed to be a somewhat reluctant Unlimited Class pilot. He flew the ex Chuck Hall Mustang to a solid victory over the very fast Conquest 1 being flown that year by Richard Laidley. Al Chute took this photo at Reno in 1972.

Photo Date: Circa 12 September 1972
Credit: Al Chute via Timothy Weinschenker
Date Uploaded: 3 November 2019
Airframe: Grumman F8F-2 Bearcat, s/n 122629 USN, c/n D-1170, c/r N777L
Notes: Phast Phoenix was the name of Lyle Sheltons Bearcat in 1972. This photo was taken by Al Chute during the 1972 Gold Final. You can tell this for sure because the stock canopy borrowed from Bud Fountain is in place after his racing canopy departed the airplane on a Saturday evening test flight. A big shout out to Russell Gann for some Photoshop tips to Phastly improve the quality of this image! Thanks Russ!
